Silver and Gold Filigree and Granulation with Debra Carus
Learn the ancient arts of filigree and granulation using fine silver and fine gold. Historically used for highly decorative twisted wire lacework and tiny patterns of granules, makers have used these techniques dating back to Egyptian times throughout the world. We will make one complete project in class, resulting in a mixed metal pendant that is surprisingly affordable. Skills learned include: making the twisted wire filigree, making granules, shaping the wires into a modern lacework design, and soldering them into a square wire framework. Use a variety of solders, including powdered, chip and paste and use fusing techniques suitable for intricate detailed work.
