.Although my degrees are in English Literature I have had extensive study in art. While in college, whenever I had room for an elective, I chose an art class---usually in metals or enameling. I have been fortunate to be able to study under some of the finest metal smiths and enamellists in the country. A number of years ago I taught enameling at the Multnomah Art Center here in Portland, and currently give workshops in enameling and other metalsmithing techniques in my studio

Regarding that which makes my work distinctive, I believe it is my utilization of ancient techniques and processes in a contemporary manner, (granulation, keum boo, and special techniques in enameling). I avoid popular trends and styles, and follow my own artistic instincts. Most of my work is labor intensive, and is the result of much study and experimentation. I enjoy the challenge of attempting new things, and although it is not cost effective, I make one-of-a-kind pieces. Although I love the classic symmetry and balance found in ancient Greek and Roman Architecture, my own work tends to be asymmetrical and non-representational.

My work has been shown in a number of galleries, among them:
Graystone Gallery, Portland
Anderson Gallery, McMinnville
River Sea Gallery, Astoria
Contemporary Crafts Museum and Gallery, Portland
Valley Art Association, Forest Grove
Random Modern Art Gallery, Tacoma, Wash
Osteguy Gallery, Montreal, Canada

Some of the shows in which I have participated are
Best of the Northwest, Portland, Or.
Celebration of Creativity Beaverton, Or.
Creative Metal Arts Guild (CMAG Portland, Or
Christmas Jubilee, Portland, Or.
