CMAG General Meeting

7:15 pm, Tuesday, April 8 / Multnomah Arts Center, Rm 34

Program

YESTERDAY TO TODAY
From your earliest metalwork creations to what emerges from your studio today….this is what our April Program is about.

Come and share your creative journey with fellow CMAGers. For some of you that will be a time span of months or a few years. For others it will be decades!!!

Whether you began your metalwork in hippie days or recent days, ask your mom (or whomever) to lend back your first pieces to share, along with your current work at our next meeting.

This will be a fun evening when we learn so many interesting insights into the paths our fellow metalsmiths have followed that have led them to our group. Ask friendly questions. Learn how others learned.

YOUR FIRST AND LAST WORKS ARE OUR PROGRAM!!!

And PLEEZE, enhance our understanding of your history by illustrating it with a photo of yourself from your “vintage” (or recent) beginnings!

Spring Show Greeters Needed

Dorothy Overman is looking for people to volunteer to act as greeters at the CMAG Spring show. We would like the following message to be sent to the entire CMAG membership as Dorothy needs to get these spots filled as soon as possible. Thank you for your help.

Greeters will do a 2 hour stint. If they are in the show, the time spent as a greeter will count toward the time they need to fill their hours.

CMAG members, please ask your friends, spouses, neighbors children etc. whether they will be willing to help out. If you can help please contact Dorothy Overman at l-541-937-8002 as soon as possible as she needs to set up the list and to give you the hours that are most convenient for you.

The need is urgent, so please do help

If I might just add, the Spring Show is upon us and this is our last meeting before it occurs. Donations are always welcome for Gallery and Silent Auction and CASA from all members, not just participants and volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities; greeters, education demo, booth sitting in the "tower," card services, etc. If in the show, it's not too late to contact your committee(s)--(well, really it is, but better late ... ) If you just want to help out (it REALLY is a good time mostly) but don't know how, drop a reply to this and I'll hook you up. Spring Show Wrap Up and Review

SWAP MEET DATE CHANGE:

This summer our swap meet will occur in July, not August.

CMAG By-Law Amendment Update

This will be brought to a vote at the May General Meeting. Any comments from any member may be directed to me, Wayne Acton, the secretary, by email, post or telephonically and I will see to its circulation.

The board has voted to present the following revisions of the by-laws to the general membership for a vote. Proposed amendments are to Article III – Executive Board, Sections 1 & 4

The current language is : Section 1. The Executive Board shall consist of the (four) officers plus seven members in good standing, and the Past President. and Section 4. Seven members of the Executive Board shall be deemed a quorum.

The amended language would be: Section 1. The Executive Board shall consist of the (four) officers plus up to seven members in good standing, and the Past President. and Section 4. Four members of the Executive Board shall be deemed a quorum.

Explanation for amending: For reasons difficult to identify, CMAG has had to operate for some time with fewer board members than required and often no quorums at board meetings. Sometimes a work-around like virtual voting has been employed; sometimes active board members have just gone ahead and done what’s necessary. These changes reflect the reality of our situation.

Process for amending By-Laws: ARTICLE VII - PROCEDURE TO AMEND BY-LAWS Section 1. Proposal to amend the By-laws may be made by any member in good standing upon presenting in writing the desired amendment or amendments to the President who shall in turn present them to the general membership at the next meeting of the general membership. Section 2. The By-laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the general membership in good standing at that meeting.
